The holiday season is upon us once again - let the crazy begin!  Oh wait... just me?  Am I the only one whose armpits start sweating, my to-do list triples and all my good intentions for matching holiday outfits, thoughtful gifts and quality family time are out the door because time flies at a rapid pace. Truthfully, I started writing this post back in the beginning of September and I had full intentions of telling you, my dear clients (more like, friends), that I was going to take this season off.

You see, I've said goodbye to two very important people this year - most recently, my father-in-law, just last month after fighting for his life following a car accident.  Photography just didn't seem like a high priority. My heart wasn't in it and it seemed like the easy way out.

That was until I started accumulating photographs for my FIL's memorial and I found myself clinging to the memories that each photograph held - the candid and the formal ones.  Maybe I'm alone in this, but photographs bring me peace.  My brain is constantly flooded with projects, appointments, holidays, milestones, grocery lists and everything else that I find myself scared I'm going to forget (because I usually do) those sweet moments in the chaos BUT a photograph - now that's where the memory is suspended in time.  A quick look at a picture and I'm transported back in time and the memories coming flooding back..... I don't have to worry about forgetting the time my middle cut her own bangs two days before Christmas or when we decided to keep a random scorpion in a jar, name it Norberta and then we watched it have babies (now that's a story for another day and probably a memory I wish I could forget)

I digress, back to peace and photographs... I quickly realized that I have the ability to offer others a bit of peace.  The opportunity to suspend time and a create a forever memory.  1 Peter 4:10 says,  "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace..."

So here I am - back for holiday minis and excited to see your families again. Thank you to new and old clients of Southern Lens - I am eternally grateful for your support of my business and your trust in me!
